Dr. Marvetta L. Butler

          Dr. Butler's journey in education started in December 1998, receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Instrumental Music Performance.  Shortly thereafter, she began as a vocal and instrumental music teacher in the East Baton Rouge Parish and Ascension Parish Public Schools in the state of Louisiana. In January 2007, she relocated to Saint Louis, Missouri and began teaching vocal music at Saint Louis Public Schools. In May 2010, she earned her Master of Arts Degree in Music Education and in August 2013 received her Master of Science Degree in Secondary Education Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.  Through much prayer, God lead her to continue her graduate work one last time in April 2017.  In December 2019, she received her Doctorate of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Maryville University.  Dr. Butler has also served as a Dean of Students, a Summer School Site Leader, and is presently the Visual and Performing Arts Department Chair at Shaw VPA Elementary School with over 25 years of educational experience. Dr. Butler takes pride in seeing the fruits of her labor and views education as a precious and cherished profession that fosters not only music experiences but opens up avenues to assisting youth who need tangible resources and services.  As a well-respected leader of The Doctor's Touch Outreach, Dr. Butler has committed to shaping our vision and mission by forever changing the lives of our youth by serving and empowering those she touches.
